PET foam offers a balanced property set:
- Thermal Performance: Stable R-value of approximately R-4.2 to R-4.5 per inch, maintained over a wide temperature range (-320°F to +300°F).
- Moisture Resistance: Very low water absorption (<1% by volume) due to closed-cell structure, preventing R-value degradation and mold growth.
- Mechanical Strength: High compressive and shear strength, making it ideal for composite panels subject to loads.
- Environmental & Safety: Contains no CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, or formaldehyde. It is halogen-free and has low smoke toxicity in fires. Its production uses recycled content, reducing its embodied carbon.
- Durability: Highly resistant to chemicals and solvents, and does not rot or deteriorate from moisture exposure.
