PU foam board significantly outperforms both XPS (R-5/inch) and EPS (R-3.8-4.4/inch) in thermal efficiency with its R-6 to R-7/inch rating. This means thinner insulation layers can achieve the same thermal performance, saving space in building designs. Additionally, PU maintains its R-value better over time compared to EPS, and doesn’t experience the same level of thermal drift as some XPS products that use blowing agents with higher global warming potential.
