What is XPS Foam Board, and how is it made?

XPS (Extruded Polystyrene) is a rigid insulation board made from polystyrene polymer. The manufacturing process involves melting the polystyrene with a blowing agent and then extruding it through a die. This creates a closed-cell foam structure with a smooth, hard skin on both surfaces, resulting in high compressive strength and excellent moisture resistance.
