What is PET Foam Board, and what makes it different from other rigid foam insulations?

PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate) Foam Board is a rigid, closed-cell insulation material made from recycled PET plastics, primarily post-consumer bottles. Unlike XPS or EPS (made from virgin polystyrene), PET foam is a polyester-based polymer. The manufacturing process involves extruding the recycled PET with a chemical blowing agent to create a lightweight, dimensionally stable board with excellent mechanical properties. Its key differentiators are its high environmental profile (high recycled content), excellent strength-to-weight ratio, and superior thermal stability (maintaining performance at higher temperatures).
