What is a sandwich panel and how is it structured?

A sandwich panel is a composite structural panel consisting of two strong outer skins bonded to a lightweight core material. The skins are typically made of steel, aluminum, FRP, or plywood, while the core may be PU, PIR, EPS, XPS, PET foam, PVC foam, PP honeycomb, or balsa wood. This configuration allows the sandwich panel to achieve high bending stiffness, excellent strength-to-weight ratio, and superior thermal or acoustic insulation compared to solid panels of the same thickness.
